Classical Kids

As a young mother, I realized that kids love two things: stories and music. When you combine the two, magic happens! Hence was born Classical Kids, a series of ten CDs blending freshly recorded music with a fact-based drama from a child’s point of view. As recorded by live orchestras, children’s choirs, singers, and actors such as Jeremy Irons and Colm Feore, young listeners are drawn into the canals of Venice, the squares of Vienna, the gardens of Georgian England, and the streets of New York in 1891.

From its modest beginnings on my dining room table, the series has sold over 5 million copies. Over time, it has morphed into two videos including the Emmy-award winning Beethoven Lives Upstairs, five acclaimed touring Symphony shows, four illustrated books, and a cross-arts Teaching curriculum. Together, they have garnered over 100 awards including 6 Junos and an Emmy, as well and awards from Billboard, Parent’s Choice, and the American Library Association.
